Biography
STEPHEN SCOTT
PRINTMAKER · ARTIST · DESIGNER
My life has always been driven by creativity and using this passion to inspire everything that I do.
After an Art & Design Foundation at Newcastle, I studied BA (Hons) Interior Design at Nottingham Trent Polytechnic (1978-1982) before moving to London to work in commercial retail design and branding. Over 30 years in the design industry provided me with the opportunity to combine and develop my creative passion, commercial awareness and management skills before a change of direction brought me to a new phase in my life.
In 2006, when I established my property development business, I was able to dedicate more time and energy to my creative pursuits. I have always continued to draw, paint and photograph throughout my life but I built on my earlier experience of printmaking to develop and apply new techniques in silkscreen printing to my work.
My work is inspired by everything and anything that surrounds me. I find the North Norfolk coast particularly stimulating and, as I spend more and more time there, it has become a rich source for me. Although primarily based in Hertfordshire, our coastal home in Blakeney provides the opportunity to capture and interpret the landscapes and wildlife in the area that change by the season, by the week and by the day.
I aim to retain an exclusive and artisan quality in my work, therefore all my prints are in strictly limited editions: hand-produced; numbered; titled; and signed by me.
